About

The Angela Anaconda Digimon Movie Divorce Greentext is a greentext story in which an anonymous 4chan user claims that their parents got divorced after taking them to see Digimon: The Movie in theaters. The story claims that the anon's parents started arguing after seeing the Angela Anaconda crossover short before the movie, each parent blaming the other for going to the wrong movie. The arguing got them into a car crash, and a month later, they got divorced.

Origin

On October 6th, 2000, Digimon: The Movie was released in the United States. The film begins with a short that crosses over Digimon with the Canadian cartoon Angela Anaconda.[1]



On July 29th, 2019, X[2] user @CelticBrett posted a screenshot of a 4chan post made on June 2nd, 2014, about the Angela Anaconda short. The screenshot shows that on June 3rd, 2014, an anonymous 4chan user claimed that the short caused their parents' divorce.

On June 4th, 2014, they elaborated, posting a greentext detailing how it caused the divorce. The post gained over 13,000 likes in six years.

The post spread over the following years, inspiring memes. On September 27th, 2019, it was posted to the /r/greentext[3] subreddit by u/TheArkhomDestroyer, garnering over 13,000 upvotes in six years.

On December 15th, 2020, YouTuber[4] Vailskibum posted a video about the story, garnering over 140,000 views in five years.



On June 11th, 2022, Redditor u/LBPsan posted a meme to the /r/digimon[5] subreddit referencing the greentext, in which Angela Anaconda is painted as the film's true villain, garnering over 2,100 upvotes in three years.

On March 30th, 2024, Facebook[6] user Darth Nihilus-core posted a meme referencing the greentext, which was reposted to the /r/digimon[7] subreddit on April 1st, garnering over 2,700 reactions and 570 shares on the former and 2,000 upvotes on the latter in a year.

On August 6th, 2024, Facebook[8] page Muy Muy Animado posted a meme referencing the greentext that gained over 19,000 reactions and 3,900 shares in 11 months. On July 7th, 2025, X user[9] @db_witch posted, "I can't look at this show anymore without thinking about that one greentext about the Digimon crossover causing a divorce," in response to a post sharing an image of Angela Anaconda, garnering over 11,000 likes in under a day.
