The Beer Poster Trend or Fake Beer Posters Trend, also known as the Beer Poster Challenge, refers to a social media trend and internet challenge in which people recreate the advertisements and posters typically associated with beer brands like Budweiser or Corona, as well as other alcoholic beverages like Twisted Tea. The setup typically mimics vintage ads in a pin-up girl style of art, with women posing in bikinis or swimwear on a beach near the drinks.

The trend began in June 2021 and spread across social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok throughout the 2020s, typically during summers, with people creating the posters and sharing them online. Many also include printing out the physical posters and gifting them to their significant others.

As the Beer Poster Trend spread, some users also began making parodies of it using intentionally humorous-looking pictures of themselves instead of thirst trap imagery that made them look attractive. The trend initially did not use AI-generated images, but as it spread into the mid-2020s, many were created using AI art tools.

Origin

The exact first post that kicked off the Beer Poster Trend is unknown, but the challenge started sometime around mid-to-late June 2021 and usually revolved around women posting attractive images of themselves alongside beer brand logos and beverages.

The earliest known example of the trend was posted by TikTok^[1] user lizzyfromtheblock99, who referenced doing a Budweiser poster and a Corona poster for their boyfriend in a post on June 20th, 2021, which garnered over 3.8 million views, 450,300 likes and 770 comments in five years.

Spread

Throughout late June 2021 and the following months, additional examples of the trend appeared on platforms like TikTok, with the trend receiving media attention as it spread.

For example, on June 21st, 2021, TikToker^[2] emily_richey uploaded her example participating in the trend, creating a Western version and garnering over 34,000 likes and 250 comments in five years.

On June 22nd, 2021, PopSugar^[3] covered the trend in an article titled "I Tried the Beer-Poster Trend That's Taking Over TikTok, and It's Pretty Easy to Do," with The Drink Business^[4] then reporting on it two days later.

As the trend grew in virality, men also began participating in it, often in a joking manner. For instance, on June 24th, Redditor porkchopsticks13 shared an image to the /r/pics^[5] subreddit showing his wife holding up a printed poster of himself doing the challenge, receiving over 250 upvotes and 20 comments in five years.

On June 26th, Instagram^[6] user mekenzikuhnnn posted an example showing a man creating several examples of posters for Smirnoff Ice, garnering nearly 160 likes in five years.

Also on June 26th, 2021, Refinery29^[7] published an article on the trend, titled "TikTok’s Beer Poster Challenge Is A Whole Summer Mood."

The trend continued to pop up over the following years, typically reappearing on social media during the summer.

On July 25th, 2022, Instagram^[8] user alli_dick shared a version posting with Modelo Especial on the boardwalk to a beach while wearing a bikini, garnering thousands of likes and comments in four years.

On May 31st, 2025, TikTok^[9] user beerposterbabe made a post noting that the trend was making a comeback at the time, sharing her attempt and receiving over 128,800 likes and 730 comments in roughly one year.

On August 18th, 2025, the Instagram^[10] account fratleaks reposted a video of a college-aged guy being gifted a poster from the trend, garnering over 112,000 likes in a year.

On August 25th, 2026, TikToker^[11] _.mialy._ shared a version depicting themselves alongside Coors Banquet beer, garnering over 30,300 likes and 300 comments in a day.
