About

Bidoof's Law is an internet axiom that commonly states that if a user reposts or creates any form of porn, their argument is invalid. Online, the "law" has been criticized as a fallacious ad hominem attack where the user is criticized for posting pornography online rather than being criticized for the argument itself.

Origin

On April 20th, 2017, Tumblr user bidoof[1] posted the following:

will there ever be anything more timelessly funnier on this site than seeing some joyless idiot asserting their stupid controversial worldviews internet toughguy style and then checking their blog and they're just, completely openly and shamelessly addicted to hentai

"will there ever be anything more timelessly funnier on this site than seeing some joyless idiot asserting their stupid controversial worldviews internet toughguy style and then checking their blog and they’re just, completely openly and shamelessly addicted to hentai"

As of April 9th, 2020, the post has over 79,000 notes.

Spread

In the years following the post, the law was often brought up on Twitter and Tumblr, to criticize users for entering into internet arguments when they also post porn. A screencap of the original post was reposted to /r/tumblr[2] by Reddit user Ignativsss, on, March 23rd, 2020, gaining over 1160 upvotes as of April 9th, 2020. On October 20th, 2019, Twitter user @replicantremake[3] brought up the law in response to another user's argument, gaining over 1,700 retweets and 5,200 likes as of April 9th, 2020.

Criticism

Online, the law has seen heavy criticism from internet communities, as it constitutes an argumentum ad hominem attack, which is "any attempt to link the validity of a premise to a characteristic or belief of the person advocating the premise." It has been compared to other ad hominem attacks such as having ''pronouns in bio'' or using an anime avatar. Parodies and mockeries of the original law were also created. Examples include a post by llamanatee[5] in /r/coaxedintoasnafu (shown below, left) and Tumblr user vaporwavevocap[6] (shown below, right).

pokemon ur horny lol i win argument Ditto's Law: When someone harshly judges or dehumanizes someone for enjoying hentai or p---, they inevitably have a secřet p--- addiction fof things wáy worse than the things they are judging the other person for.

Users online have also defended the law. @StebMcDreb[4] on Twitter clarified the law was referring to the contrast between the viewpoints of the user's argument and the content that they post on their account (shown below).

I Lady Alexis @StebMcDreb bidoof's law doesn't mean "your politics are invalid if you RT p---" it's specifically about the contrast of joyless chuds going on about degeneracy and the decline of art and western civilization and then the first thing on their page is "my sister's armpits smell good!?!?!?" 12:43 PM - Oct 22, 2019 · Twitter Web Client 3.9K Retweets 12.8K Likes I Lady Alexis @StebMcDreb · Oct 22, 2019 Replying to @StebMcDreb for leftists, who typically subscribe more to supporting and uplifting sex workers and independent (mostly nsfw) queer creators, being horny on main is entirely consistent ♡ 20 27 211 2.1K | Lady Alexis if these are the tweets that push me over to 1700I swear to f------ god @StebMcDreb · Oct 22, 2019 8. 439
