BigKlit, real name Indigo Ford,^[15] is a rapper known for her provocative and controversial style of rap. The musician first went viral on MySpace before 2010 for her viral "jerking" videos under the moniker "Indigo Vanity." In 2019, she went viral on TikTok as BigKlit for her song "Liar." She often collabs with producer Full Tac, real name Jared Soule, who produced her seminal EP, as well as the track "Liar."

Career

Indigo Vanity

BigKlit began her career making music at the age of 14. She went by the name Indigo Vanity before the year 2012 and was a notable MySpace personally known for her "jerking" videos on the platform.^[13]

She also released music between the years 2009 and 2012 with a track named "Insecure" being uploaded to YouTube^[11] on September 16th, 2009 (seen below, left) and another track named "Rock Your World"^[12] uploaded on September 5th, 2009 (seen below, right), gathering over 800,000 and 500,000 views, respectively.

A video of her jerking can be accessed via an October 13th, 2010, upload to the YouTube channel "IndiGoHard," where it gathered over 60,000 views in over 10 years (seen below).^[14]

BigKlit

In 2018 she moved to New York after being contacted by Queens-based producer Full Tac, who purportedly found her internet presence to be interesting and intimidating. The two then began making music together, resulting in BigKlit's first EP titled, Big Klitoris in December 2018, and the LP 2028 released on April 19th, 2019.^[1][2][3]

"Liar"

On July 22nd, 2019, BigKlit released a music video for her song "Liar," produced by Full Tac, and uploaded it to her official YouTube channel, where it gathered over 4.6 million views in over three years (seen below).^[4]

The song became a trend on TikTok soon after, with people lipsyncing its lyrics to intimidate their pets, family or store mannequins. Early viral iterations of the trend include a video posted on August 18th, 2019 by TikToker @noelleschmalz, gathering over 10 million plays and 1 million likes in over three years (seen below, left).^[5] Another viral video using the sound was posted by @zoelaverne on October 15th, 2019, gathering over 30 million plays and 4 million likes in over three years (seen below, right).^[6]

On February 16th, 2021, BigKlit performed a live version of the song for music publication Uproxx's official YouTube channel, gathering over 99,000 views in nearly a year (seen below).^[7]

On December 26th, 2019, Twitter^[8] user @napkingcolejr posted a clip from the aforementioned video with the caption, "This is incredible. BigKlit doesn’t miss." The tweet gathered over 15,000 likes and over 12,000 retweets in over a week. The tweet was quote tweeted by various Twitter users unfamiliar with BigKlit's music and disparaging her style of rapping. On December 28th, 2019, Twitter^[9] user @EclecticHams quote tweeted the video saying, "I think I'm officially too old for whatever this is." The tweet gathered over 26,000 likes in less than a week (seen below).

On December 29th, 2019, Twitter user @Sturgeons_Law retweeted the video as well, saying "Having a Dr. Seuss flow while also trying to sound powerful & dangerous will always come off funny to me." The tweet gathered over 14,000 likes in three days (seen below).^[10]
