The comic was released on August 6th, 2025, and became the subject of edits throughout 2026, which often replace Doom and Mr. Fantastic with other people or characters. The format saw a significant boost in virality in June 2026 during the FIFA World Cup, as fans started editing the image to represent one team beating another.

On August 6th, 2025, One World Under Doom issue six was released. The cover, by Ben Harvey, shows Dr. Doom ripping Mr. Fantastic's head in half from behind. Mr. Fantastic's head is seen splitting open while still alive, due to Mr. Fantastic's rubber abilities.^[1]

On March 29th, 2026, X^[2] / Twitter user @shine_gomiseifu quote-reposted a video of two African men training with knives that is captioned, "African refugees undergoing pre-departure training before relocating to Europe, America, and Australia." The quote-reposter wrote a controversial remark about the video, writing, "Are they moving here to kill people? […] There's no way we can coexist with crap like this, right," to over 66,000 likes in three months.

On March 30th, X^[3] user @gordoavi0n quote-reposted @shine__gomiseifu's post with a redraw of the Dr. Doom image, writing, "The Japs upon seeing a black guy:," garnering over 34,000 likes in three months.

Spread

The Dr. Doom Mr. Fantastic meme continued to spread over the following months as it sparked additional edits and redraws in 2026.

On May 7th, 2026, Redditor Classic-Work-8415 posted a redraw of the image to the /r/DispatchAdHoc^[4] subreddit referencing the video game Dispatch, showing the character Blazer tearing Homelander in half, garnering over 1,500 upvotes in three months.

The meme format saw a significant boost in virality in June 2026 during the FIFA World Cup, as people began using it to show someone from one nation's team, or a fan of a team, tearing a representative of another team in half.

For example, on June 20th, a thread was made on 4chan's^[5] /sp/ (sports) board sharing a compilation of numerous examples of the meme, most of which relate to the World Cup.
