Background

Alex Meyers is a commentary YouTuber who does animated reviews on teen and young adult movies and TV shows primarily from Disney, Nickelodeon, and Netflix.

In July 2026, Meyers would publish a video to YouTube called "Obsession is an INSANE movie" which received intense criticism primarily because Meyers white-washes the protagonist of the film, Bear, and villainizes Nikki. He makes multiple sexual comments at Nikki's expense such as calling her a "crazy crystal Latina mommy" and ignores the more damning scenes of the film where Bear sexually assaults Nikki while she is under the influence of the One Wish Willow.

As a result of the negative reception, Meyers would make a follow up response to apologize for his miswording only to delete both videos. He would then copyright claim reuploads of the video as a means of erasing any traces of his review.

Almost immediately after, there had been a plethora of videos critiquing his review ranging from prominent figures like diesel patches and August the Duck.
