Everyone Get In the Car We're Leaving This Town Now and Hermit Purple refers to a scene from the English dub of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 3 – Stardust Crusaders anime, where Joseph Joestar tries to get in a car, but the car transforms into a spiked fence, causing Joseph to use his Stand, Hermit Purple. In the scene, Joseph Joestar yells, "Everyone, get in the car! We are leaving this town now! Ah, what the? Impossible! This isn't the car! No! No! Oh! Hermit Purple!"

The scene comes from episode 14, "Justice, Part 1," which was released in English on November 12th, 2017. It went viral in early May 2026 as the subject of memes because of the absurdity of the scene, especially when viewed out of context and considering how long Joseph is suspended above the spikes, and because of the delivery of the lines in the English dub. Memes include recreations of the scene, using the dialogue as a copypasta and more.

On November 12th, 2017, the English dub of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Part 3 – Stardust Crusaders was released, titled "Justice, Part 1." At one point in the episode, Joseph Joestar goes to jump in a car, yelling, "Everyone, get in the car! We are leaving this town now!" The car then transforms into a spiked fence. Joseph yells, "Impossible! This isn't the car!" He then uses his Stand, Hermit Purple, to avoid getting killed.

On April 27th, 2026, X^[9] user @WebJ23_ posted a portion of the scene, writing, "Why didn’t Narancia just do this," gaining over 10,000 likes in about two weeks. This is the earliest known post to spark the memes.

The "Everyone Get In the Car" scene continued to inspire memes in early May 2026 on sites including TikTok and X / Twitter.

On May 1st, 2026, TikToker^[1] @asova.ae posted an edit of the scene, writing in the description, "what even is dub bruh 😭," highlighting the absurdity of the English dub, garnering over 2.5 million views in a week.

On May 3rd, 2026, TikToker^[2] @drakoarmy posted a video where he recreates the scene, garnering over 761,000 views in five days.

On May 6th, X^[3] user @zmpixie posted the dialogue from the scene as a copypasta, garnering over 7,100 likes in two days. They later quoted their own post with the original scene, writing, "I literally just started watching jojos and this is the dumbest and funniest shit for no reason," gaining over 72,000 likes in two days.

That day, TikToker^[4] @rhuku_65 posted a recreation of the scene using Spider-Man action figures, garnering over 222,000 views in two days.

On May 7th, 2026, the @KFC_ES X^[5] account posted an image of a KFC restaurant with a spiked fence outside of it, a red arrow and circle with Joseph Joestar's face pointing at it, copypasting the dialogue as the text post, garnering over 75,000 likes in a day.

Later that day, X^[6] user @StarlyCactus posted a meme showing Giorno impaled by spikes, writing, "When you forget to summon Hermit Purple in time," garnering over 60,000 likes in a day.

That same day, Redditor u/bluefox3579 posted a remake of the scene made in Terraria to the /r/ShitPostCrusaders^[7] subreddit, gaining over 1,300 upvotes in a day.

Also on May 7th, 2026, X^[8] user @EMPORIOSMOM quoted a post reading, "WITHOUT GOOGLING name a famous historic battle," posting an image of Joseph Joestar and an image of a spiked fence, garnering over 40,000 likes in a day.
