In medical terms, "degloving," like in the Degloved Face shock media trend, refers to an injury in which all layers of the skin are torn, revealing the muscle and bone structure below. In late 2025, as memes that mocked gloving surfaced en masse on TikTok, jokes about degloving were introduced. In many of them, degloving was portrayed as a punishment in the gloving community. Before 2025, degloving was a Don't Google term, evident in a viral video shared by TikToker^[1] @marquaythegoat on January 9th, 2022. In late 2022, the term Degloved Face, specifically, gained viral attention on TikTok.

In 2025, a series of ironic gloving memes surfaced on TikTok, notably starting in July 2025, with the TikTok^[2] account @thelightboyzz. Parody gloving posts continued to surface in late 2025 on TikTok, peaking in December.

On December 5th, 2025, TikToker^[3] @drakoarmy shared a video skit about a glover telling the viewer, "2 facts about the gloving community you might not know." He said to never call a glover unemployed and then talked about how gloving is "very dangerous" because a glover could be "degloved." Over four days, the video received over 286,900 likes.

On the next day, December 6th, 2025, TikToker^[4] @drakoarmy shared another parody gloving video, in which he went over things to not say in the "gloving community." Being "degloved" was the punishment he suggested for uttering the examples. Over three days, the video received over 334,000 likes.

In the following days, other meme creators shared memes about gloving vs. degloving. For instance, on December 7th, TikToker^[5] @jjjhasu shared a video caption meme, joking about getting degloved after being caught cheating in gloving. Over two days, the video received roughly 13,000 likes.

On December 8th, 2025, TikToker^[6] @pink_salm0n shared a video caption meme, using a black-and-white clip of streamer IShowSpeed looking terrified with the caption, "When bro makes fun of the gloving community but then lowkenuinly gets degloved in front of me." In a day, the meme received over 124,000 likes.
