Home Depot's "Santa's Eye View" refers to a short video advertisement originally made for the home goods and appliances store Home Depot taken using a drone camera flying through a Home Depot parking lot and into the store. The video clip quickly became an exploitable meme, with users altering the music and overlaying other footage or images, such as video game references, on top of the video.

Origin

On December 2nd, 2021, Home Depot posted a video of a drone flying through a Home Depot store to their Twitter[1] and YouTube[2] accounts, receiving over 10,000 likes and 988,000 on the former and over 5,000 views on the latter in four days.



Spread

The clip quickly became an exploitable, as Twitter users altered the video to feature different background music. For example, Twitter[3] user @wildroared edited the video to feature Final Fantasy XIV music on December 5th, 2021, gaining over 500 retweets and 1,000 likes in less than 24 hours (shown below).


On December 4th, 2021, Twitter[4] user @nincue posted an edit that made the clip look like the background of a Super Smash Brothers Ultimate stage, gaining over 10,000 retweets and 51,000 likes in two days (shown below).
