Jason Momoa Sneaking Up On Henry Cavill refers to a series of object label image macros and photoshopped memes of a photograph of actor Jason Momoa attempting to surprise fellow-Justice League co-star Henry Cavill, who play Aquaman and Superman, respectively, in the film Justice League).

Origin

On August 3rd, 2016, a photograph by Richard Young from the premiere of the DC Comics superhero film Suicide Squad of Momoa sneaking up on Cavill was published (shown below).^[1]

Spread

On December 31st, 2017, Facebook account ^[7] TrialByMeme posted an object-labeled variation of the picture. The post (shown below, left) received more than 1,400 reactions and 450 shares.

Two weeks later, on January 23rd, 2018, Redditor ^[2] Reddit__PI posted the photograph in the /r/photoshopbattles subreddit (examples below, center and right).

Several months later, Imgur ^[3] user jackalj01 posted the image with Cavill labeled "the gallon of ice cream in the fridge" and Momoa labeled "Me." The post (shown below) received more than 3,700 points and 164,000 views in less than one month.

The following day, FunnyJunk ^[4] posted the image on the site. The post received more than 915 upvotes and 20,000 views.

Over the next few weeks, people began posting more object label versions of the picture. On April 22nd, Twitter ^[5] @laurendawi posted a version in which Momoa is labeled "Me at 3am" and Cavill is labeled "Shredded cheese from the bag." The post (shown below, left) received more than 225 retweets and 810 likes in less than two weeks.

On April 26th, Twitter^[6] @BillyJoelOsment tweeted a version in which the Momoa is labeled "6 year old me" and Cavill is labeled "A woman with the same height and hair as my mom." The post (shown below, right) received more than 71,000 and 220,000 likes in less than two weeks.

Over the next few weeks, people continued to post variations in which the image is labeled.
