Kid Named Finger is a parody meme format that combines elements of the ironic Breaking Bad trend Mikeposting with the Kid Named X meme format and involves referring to character Mike Ehrmantraut as "kid named finger" or "finger." The parody format gained initial popularity in the /r/okbuddychicanery subreddit in early April 2022 before spreading further in mid-May.

Origin

On March 13th, 2022 Redditor^[1] ToddChungus posted a collection of 20 memes taken from the /r/animemes subreddit in which they replaced the punchline panel with images of character Mike Erhmantraut from the Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul television series. The post received over 7,300 upvotes in the /r/okbuddychicanery subreddit, spawning the Anime Memes Replaced With Breaking Bad meme trend, also known as Mikeposting.

On March 22nd, Redditor Monday965 made a Mikepost that parodied the Kid Named X memes. The post, in which an image of character Mike Ehrmantraut was captioned "Kid Named Finger," gained over 3,800 upvotes in /r/okbuddychicanery^[2] in two months (shown below).

On the same day, Redditor KearLoL reposted the image to /r/okbuddyretard,^[3] where it received over 6,600 upvotes.

On March 30th, 2022, Redditor TheSexualSocialist posted the cropped macro to /r/okbuddychicanery,^[4] with the post gaining over 920 upvotes (shown below, left). On March 31st and April 1st, Redditor^[5][6] BankerCheese posted two memes that referred to Mike as "kid named finger" that gained over 310 upvotes and 1,200 upvotes in the subreddit (shown below, center and right).

Through April 2022, memes that referred to Mike Erhmantraut as "kid named finger" or "finger" achived viral popularity in the subreddit. For example, on April 4th, 2022, Redditor^[7] TheHigherUpsGotMe posted a meme that received over 1,800 upvotes in two months (shown below, left). On April 24th, 2022, Redditor^[8] Ricen132 posgted a photoshop that garnered over 4,300 upvotes in one month (shown below, right).

Starting in mid-May 2022, the format saw spread outside of the /r/okbuddychicanery subreddit. For example, on May 16th, 2022, gimmick Twitter^[9] account @BreakingBadIrny posted a meme that gained over 560 retweets and 11,500 likes in three days (shown below, left). On May 18th, 2022, Twitter^[10] user @Summitsphere made a post that received over 120 retweets and 1,700 likes in one day (shown below, right).

Put Your Dick Away, Walter or Put Your Dick Away, Waltuh is a viral audio clip where a voice actor playing Mike Ehrmentraut from Breaking Bad, also known in memes as Finger, tells Walter White to put his penis away and that he doesn't want to have sex with him. The audio clip, likely inspired by a May 2022 4chan post, was shared on Twitter by @BreakingBadIrny in June 2022 and went viral over the following weeks, particularly on YouTube and TikTok.
