MAGA Wojak or MAGAtard is a Wojak character depicted as an overweight, dumb man with a single tooth smiling and wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat.

The original MAGA Wojak was first used as early as July 2018 on 4chan. It became increasingly popular over the following years, often as a way of making fun of Trump and MAGA supporters.

In September 2026, the character was converted into a more photorealistic character using artificial intelligence. The AI version of the character became the subject of memes, including jokes about right-wing politics and conservative party supporters.

Origin

On July 11th, 2018, an anonymous 4chan^[1] user posted a comment in response to a user on the /pol/ board who compared the democratic party to the socialist party. The commenter responded with a Wojak depicted as a dumb, toothless man in a MAGA hat, writing, ">Democrats are socialists. Imagine being this uninformed." The Wojak is being used, in this context, to make fun of someone with perceived MAGA viewpoints.

This is the earliest known user to post the Wojak, although it is unclear if it is the true origin of the character.

On September 2nd, 2026, X^[2] user @WearForbidden posted an AI-generated video of a character based on the MAGA Wojak, gaining over 51,000 likes and 8.7 million views in a day. The video shows the MAGA Wojak, aka MAGAtard, sitting on the computer and defending controversial topics like AI data centers, Flock cameras, and the war in Iran.

The character became the subject of further memes that month.

Later on September 2nd, 2026, X^[3] user @normposter posted an image of the character on a mobility scooter under the ""Unbothered, Moisturized,"": copypasta, garnering over 2,600 likes in a day.

On September 3rd, X^[4] user @grandoldmemes posted a version of the Obama medal meme that shows Trump awarding a medal to the MAGA Wojak, garnering over 7,800 likes in under a day.

That same night, X^[5] user @bourscheid posted a collection of edits of the character, including an edit that shows him as a cowboy and an edit that shows him as conservative content creator Tim Pool, writing, "Something is happening," garnering over 7,500 likes in under a day.
