The clip was remixed and edited in numerous ways by social media users after it was posted.

Origin

On July 4th, 2021, Mark Zuckerberg posted a video of himself surfing while holding an American flag to his Instagram. The video^[1] gained over 3.1 million views (shown below).

Spread

The video was quickly parodied in a variety of ways on social media. Twitter user @J1MCUNN1NGHAM posted a video replacing the music with the theme from Jaws, gaining over 440 retweets and 1,300 likes (shown below, top). User @kylascan posted a parody video showing the Facebook logo on the American flag, gaining over 530 retweets and 4,500 likes (shown below, bottom).

Twitter user @Acyn^[2] posted a photoshop adding Zuckerberg into the background of a scene in Titanic, gaining over 920 retweets and 7,600 likes (shown below, left). User @chlamydiarises^[3] posted a parody showing Zuckerberg carrying the Isis flag, gaining over 2,600 retweets and 34,000 likes.
