The Moo Virus is an iPhone prank in which a victim is tricked into downloading a link to a fake app called "High School Fights," or "HHS School Fights," which instead launches an app that causes a repeated mooing sound to play on the phone, also purportedly zooming in the screen and inverting the colors, until the app is deleted.
The fake virus was popularized on social media in early July 2026 and has existed since as early as June 10th, 2026. The link to the file necessary for the prank was shared across social media. As it spread, posts appeared online offering fixes for the prank.
Origin
It is unconfirmed who started the Moo Virus prank. One of the earliest known examples was posted by TikToker[1] @callummcmurdoo on June 10th, 2026.
In the video, he films his mother opening the app and activating the Moo Virus on her phone. The video gained over 270,000 views in a month.

On June 11th, a user on the Apple[2] forums made a post asking how to fix the "Moo Virus," explaining that it causes a mooing sound, inverts the colors on phone screens and causes the screen to zoom in.
Another user offered a fix that involves deleting the shortcut for the downloaded app, restarting the iPhone, navigating to Settings>Accessibility>Zoom and turning it off, then navigating to Settings>Accessibility>Display & Text Size, and turning off Smart Invert or Classic Invert.
Spread
The Moo Virus prank spread over the course of June and July 2026 as people shared videos of themselves pranking others or being pranked by the app.
On June 19th, 2026, TikToker[3] @yourlocal.spidey67 posted a video of their sister crying after playing the Moo Virus prank on them, garnering over 2.4 million views in two weeks.

On June 24th, TikToker[4] @ub.braden posted a video of himself removing the Moo Virus in 20 seconds, garnering over 4.2 million views in just over a week.

On July 6th, 2026, TikToker[5] @mastergotech posted a skit where a woman comes into his phone repair kiosk to get the Moo Virus removed from her phone, garnering over 730,000 views in a day.
