Now… It's Your Turn, also known as Next, It's Your Turn is an exploitable meme that comes from the ending of an episode of the anime My Hero Academia. The meme replaces the scene's characters, All Might and Deku, with different characters.

Origin

The scene was first shown in Chapter 94^[1] of the My Hero Academia manga, which was released in Japan on June 13th, 2016. It also also shown in the anime adaptation of My Hero Academia in Episode 49,^[2] which first premiered in Japan on June 16th, 2018, and in the United States on May 11th, 2019. In the episode, All Might uses the very last embers of his quirk "One For All" to defeat his nemesis "All For One". As the site of the battle is being cleaned up by the other heroes afterwards, All Might stands and points towards the camera of a nearby news crew and says "Now… it's your turn." in the United States version, "Next, it's your turn." in the subtitles of the Japanese version, and "You're next" in the manga version. Deku looks up at the television screen where he currently is, and understands that All Might was pointing to him specifically and begins to cry as he knows that All Might used up everything he had left in that battle and can no longer be a superhero.

The earliest posts using the format appeared on Reddit. On February 14th, 2020, an unknown Reddit user made a post using the format to r/Animemes^[3] that referenced the subreddits r/ShitPostCrusaders and r/Animememes. The post received over 11,000 upvotes in six years. Later that same day, a blank meme template of the format was posted to the subreddit r/MemeTemplatesOfficial.^[4]

Spread

On May 21st, 2024, Twitter / X^[5] user SomethingInWorl posted the meme with Bridget from Guilty Gear pointing to Vivian from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. The post received over 886,000 views and over 29,000 likes in over two years.

On June 9th, 2024, Twitter / X^[6] user Outrage_MK2 posted the meme with The Employee from Limbus Company pointing to various other indie game characters, such as the lamb from Cult of the Lamb. The post received over 1.2 million views and over 81,000 likes in over two years.

On September 12th, 2024, Glitch posted the meme to Twitter / X^[7] with Uzi Doorman from Murder Drones pointing to Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus. The post received over 3.5 million views and over 109,000 likes in over one year.

On May 16th, 2026, Twitter / X^[8] user DNormal11 posted artwork of the meme, which shows Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus pointing to Kit Bodega from Gameoverse. The post received over 585,000 views and over 81,000 likes in nearly two months.

On July 6th, 2026, Glitch posted the meme again to Twitter / X,^[9] but this time with Pomni from The Amazing Digital Circus pointing at Guinevere from Knights of Guinevere and Mel from The Gaslight District. The post received over 6 million views and over 197,000 likes in four days.
