About

"Otonoke" is the opening theme to the 2024 anime DanDaDan. The song was recorded by Japanese hip-hop duo Creepy Nuts, the same group behind "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born," which was the much-memed theme song to the second season of Mashle. "Otonoke" has inspired multiple animation memes, remixes and covers online since the premier of DanDaDan in early October 2024.

Origin

On October 3rd, 2024, the MBSアニメ&ドラマ YouTube channel[1] uploaded the opening movie for DanDaDan, gaining over 9.7 million views in six weeks.



Spread

The song and OP animation both inspired praise and tribute on social media in the weeks after the show debuted in early October 2024. For example, on October 18th, 2024, TheAnimeMen YouTube[2] channel posted a fan-made music video for the song that gained over 13 million views in three weeks.



On November 4th, YouTuber CeladonCat posted an Pikmin-themed fan animation tribute of the OP, gaining over 319,000 views in one week.



On November 6th, 2024, Mother's Basement posted an in-depth analysis of the OP to their YouTube channel, gaining over 211,000 views in one week.
