Nimrod Workman was born in Martin County, Kentucky, on November 5th, 1895, and died on November 26th, 1994, at the age of 99. Workman was a trade unionist, coal miner, and folk singer known for his traditional Appalachian folk tunes and Scottish ballads. Workman began working in coal mines at 14. He retired in 1952 due to lung and back problems. Workman had 13 children with his wife.^[1]
