Pretty Glonky refers to a viral 2019 man-on-the-street interview by Benedict Polizzi where he asks a man who seems exceptionally high on marijuana how he's doing, to which he answers "pretty glonky." The video went viral over the following years, gaining significant popularity on TikTok after being reposted to Polizzi's page in May 2021. "Glonky" is not a real word and has no confirmed definition, but has taken on the assumed meaning of being too high.

Origin

On June 1st, 2019, YouTuber^[1] Benedict Polizzi posted a video titled "best interview ever," consisting of an outtake from a larger video. In the video, Polizzi approaches a laughing man in a beanie with squinty eyes and asks him how he's feeling, to which he answers, "I'm pretty glonky," and keeps laughing. Polizzi says, "Say what?" and the interviewee says, "I'm fine," then mumbles. Polizzi laughs along with him as the interview continues and he tries to get him to guess the lyrics to a song. The video gained over 2.2 million views in two years. The full "finish the lyrics" video was uploaded to the Benedict Polizzi YouTube^[4] channel the next day.

On May 28th, 2021, Polizzi shared the video on his TikTok^[2] page, gaining over 21.6 million views in four months. This revived interest in the video and inspired numerous videos on TikTok. On June 1st, the term "glonky" was defined on Urban Dictionary^[6] as, "Excessively high to the point you can barely form a coherent sentence." On June 27th, TikToker^[5] @skunksauce posted a video showcasing lockets they made of the man, gaining over 104,000 views in three months (shown below).

On August 11th, TikToker^[3] @cosminuity posted a video animating over the original, gaining over 263,000 views in a month (shown below).
