Robin Brushing His Teeth is a series of memes based on a scene from Teen Titans GO! in which Robin turns into the devil while getting into a near-car accident while driving with Cyborg, then starts brushing his teeth while Cyborg is screaming and scared for his life. The scene references the 1987 film Planes, Trains and Automobiles.

The clip from the show started to become the subject of memes as early as February 2026, where it was used as a captioned image macro-style meme. It was further popularized in June 2026 on sites including TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube, inspiring more elaborate reanimations and recreations.

Origin

On January 23rd, 2021, Teen Titans GO! season six, episode 40, titled "Various Modes of Transportation," aired. In the episode, Cyborg goes on a road trip with Robin to get to a ping pong tournament. Robin ends up being a terrible travel partner, annoying Cyborg the whole way. At one point, they decide to rent a car, with Cyborg in the passenger seat. Robin's reckless driving terrifies Cyborg, who imagines him as the devil, as he gets them into a near accident by driving between two trains. At one point, Robin starts brushing his teeth for no reason.

The clip was uploaded to the Cartoon Network YouTube^[1] channel on July 15th, 2022, garnering over 3.5 million views in four years.

The scene is a reference to the 1987 film Planes, Trains and Automobiles starring John Candy and Steve Martin. In the scene, Candy similarly almost gets him and Martin into an accident, and Martin sees Candy as the devil.^[2]

The earliest known use of the Teen Titans GO! scene as a meme was posted by TikToker^[3] @bwwscomics2 on February 27th, 2026, garnering over 60,400 views in four months.

The Robin Brushing Teeth scene became increasingly popularized as a meme in late May and early June 2026 as it spread on social media.

On May 26th, 2026, TikToker^[4] @cjclips4days posted a meme using a black and white version of the clip, captioned, "Why did this mf Robin start brushing his teeth," garnering over 860,000 views in two weeks. It was reposted by Instagram^[5] user acynvx on May 28th, gaining over 305,000 likes in the same rough span of time.

On May 30th, YouTuber^[6] zyltex posted a reanimation of the scene using Roblox characters, garnering over 270,000 views in two weeks.

On June 5th, 2026, TikToker^[7] @wikyo7777official posted a reanimation of the clip that references The Amazing Digital Circus, garnering over 388,000 views in six days.
