Sekhmet is a Palworld creature or "Pal" depicted as a blue-and-gold anthropomorphic Egyptian-themed cat, named after the Ancient Egyptian god. The Palworld social media accounts began teasing Sekhmet's addition to the video game in early June 2026, announcing that she would be added on July 10th, 2026.

Following her reveal, Sekhmet inspired numerous reactions on social media, including fan art, posts and memes, often comparing her to the character Ankha from Animal Crossing. Many drew comparisons between her and the Ankha Zone animation of Ankha dancing, suggesting that the Palworld dev team purposefully made her look like Ankha to appeal to furries and gooners. Similar to other Pals like Lovander, Sekhmet also spawned rule 34 artworks.

Origin

On June 9th, 2026, the Palworld X^[1] / Twitter account posted a GIF in response to a video from God of War: Laufey showing the Egyptian god Sekhmet of their upcoming Pal, also based on Sekhmet, turning and waving at the camera, writing, "We’ve got a Sekhmet too, Pal 😇." The tweet garnered over 23,000 likes in about two weeks. This is the earliest post on their X account referencing Sekhmet.

Palworld continued to tease the character throughout June 2026, leading up to the July 10th, Palworld 1.0 update. Each Saturday in June, the company posted a new video or piece of content relating to the character, calling it "Sekhmet Saturday."

For example, on June 19th, 2026, the @Palworld_EN X^[2] page posted a video that shows Sekhmet mining, dancing and stretching like a cat, writing, garnering over 29,000 likes in five days.

The character was largely well-received by fans, who began creating fan art and content relating to her. Much of the content suggests that Sekhmet is attractive and that the Palworld devs purposely made her look like Ankha, the Egyptian-themed cat from Animal Crossing.

On June 20th, X^[3] user @AufsVires posted a version of the Please Do Not The Cat meme under the post, garnering over 2,900 likes in four days.

On June 23rd, 2026, X^[4] user @luci4ever4 posted a piece of fan art that depicts Sekhmet doing her cat-like stretch similar to the Yoruichi Pose, garnering over 9,800 likes in a day.

That day, Dexerto^[5] published an article about Palworld fans thirsting for Sekhmet. A screenshot of the Dexerto tweet sharing the article was posted to the /r/Palworld^[6] subreddit that day, which gained over 1,700 upvotes in a day.

Also on June 23rd, X^[7] user @Oyxmox posted a piece of Sekhmet fan art resembling the Jack-O Crouch that gained over 1,700 likes in a day.
