Videos of sour plates, and memes about sour plates, were popularized online in late February 2026 by TikTok and Instagram Reels user @ilikehaskell (Haskell), who began posting videos showing off his sour plates that month. The trend inspired reviews of sour plates, many of which were negative.

On February 11th, 2026, TikToker[1] @ilikehaskell posted a video where he shows off a custom "sour plate" of vibrantly colored, sour food, including hot dogs, ramen noodles and sour grapes. In the video, he claims to sell sour plates for $59.99 or 159.99 for delivery. The video gained over 4.1 million views in two weeks.

The TikToker continued to post sour plate videos over the following days. On February 12th, he posted a video on TikTok[2] reviewing a sour plate, garnering over 14 million views in two weeks.

On February 17th, Haskell, posted a documentary about his sour plates on YouTube,[3] garnering over 37,000 views in a week. The documentary is largely ironic in nature and features footage of Haskell making his sour plates.
