About

Two Corinthians is a gaffe uttered by Donald Trump during a January 2016 speech given at Liberty University about the preservation of Christianity in the United States. During the speech, he said, "Two Corinthians 3:17, that's the whole ballgame […] 'Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.'" The bible verse which he labeled "two" Corinthians is typically called "Second Corinthians." The gaffe was used online as a way to discredit his religious beliefs in 2016 and then resurfaced again in May 2020 following his trip to take photos in front of a church amid protests.

Listen folks, we've got this Beautiful Book here… they call it "The Bible," ok? So I open this Bible, the wonderful Bible, right? And it's a huge book – it really is, if you've seen this size of this thing, it's truly tremendous and the writers are so, so amazing to make such a huge book. It's so huge I don't think people have seen anything like it since, I mean, nobody has ever done this before, it's never been done.

But I'm reading it, right? I'm reading it and I see Two Corinthians and I say… "is that it?" Are these shmucks for real? They're ripping us off, let me tell you, let me tell you: some people are telling me, and this is true, believe me, I get calls all the time – very reputable folks: there are Three Corinthians, Four Corinthians, maybe even billions, they say the Dead Sea and we've never seen anything like this before, it's really something very special, but I'm going to instruct my Attorney General, we're going to look into this.

I'm going to direct our country, our tremendous country, and we're going to start making Corinthians in America again folks. It's gonna happen, believe me. You see China and their Corinthians are peanuts compared to our Corinthians – it's a total disaster, just sickening. So we're bringing it back, folks, we're bringing back – and we're going to have great Corinthians again and I promise you, we're going to have more than just two Corinthians because we have the best Corinthians.

God Bless America.

in reply to Mothman

They're mocking Trump for appealing to Evangelicals due to the absurdity of a twice-divorcee adulterer doing that, as well as Evangelicals for actually falling for it, even when he does such a bad job at pretending to be religious.
