The Weird Route Lake Scene is a cutscene taken from the weird route of Deltarune: Chapter 5. The scene, along with Noelle's quote "Kris, You Actually Changed!" has led to several fan animations, as well as fan recreations of the scene using other videogames.

Origin

The scene comes from the weird route of Deltarune: Chapter 5, which released on June 24th,2026. In the scene, Kris goes to see Noelle Holiday, who is waiting for them by the lake in hometown. Noelle tells Kris that she's noticed that they've somehow managed to stop being Kris, but nobody else has noticed but her. Noelle says "Kris, you actually changed!", and wants to attempt to do "something crazy". She then holds Kris' hand and goes into the lake with them as long as you keep saying "Proceed" in the dialogue box. They both go further and deeper into the lake until you either stop choosing "Proceed", or until the screen goes completely white and cuts to a black screen that says "Insert Chapter 7 Side B".

Videogame Recreation Trend

The earliest known recreation of the scene using another videogame was posted on July 29th, 2026, by Twitter / X user NathanS_YT who recreated the scene using the Nintendo DS game Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. The post received over 5 million views and over 35,000 likes in five days.
