Prior to January 30th, 2021, an unknown X user posted a photograph of a Black man in a face mask standing over two intoxicated white people lying on a sidewalk captioned, "They look like that so I can look like this" (shown below). On that day, the Facebook^[1] page Lt. Lowdawg made the earliest found repost of the post.

Spread

The image saw use in memes in 2021 and 2022 prior to being paired with its most prevalent caption. For example, on January 8th, 2022, X^[2] user @fspthedon posted a Euphoria High School meme that received over 7,200 reposts and 46,000 likes in three years (shown below).

On January 25th, 2023, tweleb Corn posted the photograph with the caption, "White people fucking love heroin lol." The post (shown below) received over 9,400 reposts and 137,000 likes on X^[3] in two years.

In the following years, the image saw use as a reaction and has been humorously recaptioned and occasionally redrawn. For example, on September 17th, 2024, Tumblr^[4] user onevii posted a Fear & Hunger redraw of the macro that gained over 250 reblogs and 1,800 likes in three months (shown below).
