You Like Krabby Patties Don’t You, Squidward?, also known by the snowclone "You Like X, Don’t You, Y?", is a reaction image, catchphrase and exploitable taken from an episode of SpongeBob SquarePants showing SpongeBob with a comically knowing grin after he realizes that Squidward likes Krabby Patties. The image has been used in similar contexts online, usually from a person discovering another's secret, and sometimes as a phrasal template with the key elements replaced to make a pop culture reference.

Origin

The phrase and image are derived from a scene from Season 3, Episode 3 of SpongeBob SquarePants titled "Just One Bite," which first aired in October of 2001.^[1] In the episode, SpongeBob attempts to get Squidward to enjoy a Krabby Patty after learning that Squidward has never eaten one before. After he takes a bite, Squidward pretends not to enjoy it but has secretly become addicted to them. The climax of the episode ends with Squidward breaking into a vault of Krabby Patties before being discovered by SpongeBob, who upon figuring out that Squidward likes the burger, makes a smug face and asks, "You like Krabby Patties, don't you, Squidward?"

The phrase has long appeared in memes, and was often applied to smug faces of other characters from pop culture. Examples from the early 2010s saw it applied to of-the-moment celebrities including Barack Obama, Miley Cyrus and Mitt Romney (shown below).

The scene itself later saw use as an exploitable, where both SpongeBob and Squidward to edited to represent different characters talking about a subject other than Krabby Patties (examples shown below).
