My Bike Got Stolen Recently - My franchise got ruined recently

I don't even care what happens to SW at this point, but seeing Mark Hamill completely broken from having to murder his most beloved character is the saddest thing to ever happen in this dimension.

On one hand, this is a fair enough point.

On the other hand, whenever I see stories of reboots of massive films and shows aiming at a new target audience and getting backlash from the existing fans of the IP, I always wonder what the studios would have to lose from swapping out all the IP and making something original and immune to such backlash.
