About

Iglooing is a slang term for a sexual act that involves defecating into a condom, putting the condom in the freezer, then using the frozen result as an anal pleasure toy. Though it dates back to the mid-2000s online, the term went viral on social media in 2023 after a clip of the podcast Sexted My Boss in which the hosts read a fan-submitted story about a person who met a man supposedly into the fetish became popularized on TikTok.

Origin

On February 28th, 2003, an anonymous Urban Dictionary^[1] user submitted a definition for "Iglooing," reading, "to shit in a condom & freeze it, thus creating a fecal-dildo" (shown below). Several other definitions for "Iglooing" that describe the same act appeared around the same time. The act has also been called an "Alaskan Pipeline."^[3]

The term laid largely dormant online for nearly 20 years until January 31st, 2023, when the TikTok account of the podcast Sexted My Boss^[2] posted a video in which one of the hosts reads a fan-submitted letter about a woman who purportedly met two men who were into the fetish. The clip gained over 5.1 million views in nearly one month (shown below).

The popularity of the @sextedmyboss clip made the term "Iglooing" go viral on TikTok, where many users recorded their shock and disgust at the fetish. On February 1st, 2023, TikToker tegan.and.jarrie posted a video posing a hypothetical in which the "love of your life" asks if they can do iglooing, gaining over 291,000 likes in three weeks (shown below, left). The following day, user TheAshlyAnne posted a video expressing her revulsion at the fetish, gaining over 16,000 likes in three weeks (shown below, right).

The trend was also covered by multiple news outlets in February 2023, including HITC^[4] and News.com.au.^[5] It also spread on Reddit around that time, as the Sexted My Boss clip was reposted to /r/Unexpected^[6] and /r/ThatsInsane,^[7] both posts gaining roughly 250 upvotes in the following weeks.
