Sike Nigga You Thought is a phrase commonly associated reaction image macro. While it has been used in the title of YouTube videos and various reaction images, the most commonly used version is of an African American man pointing his right index finger with overlaid text "Sike Nigga You Thought," expressing a successful deception.

Origin

The earliest known usage of the phrase in an image macro was posted on January 4th, 2013 on the website Memecrunch.^[2] In the image (shown below, left), the phrase is placed over a screen capture from the Supa Hot Fire video.

While the origin of the pointing image is unknown, the earliest available example of the meme was posted on March 23rd, 2015 by ask.fm^[1] user mason (shown below, right). However, because the image is a photoshopped version of the image, featuring the Dragonball character Goku's chest plate and hair drawn atop of the man, it is unlikely that it is the original image.

Months later, on May 30th, ask.fm^[3] user DionKuinlan posted the original image, a non-photoshopped version (shown below).

The following year, on January 4th, 2016, the Facebook ^[4] account sikenigerian launched and began posting variations of the meme (examples below). Within two-and-a-half years, the page has more than 725 likes and 725 followers.

On February 12th, 2016, YouTuber Ronald McFunkytown posted a video of the image. The post (shown below) received more than 134,000 views in two years.

Later that year, on March 7th, a Meme Generator ^[5] launched. Within two years, the template has more than 25 posts.
