Zero Suit Fox is a Rule 63 fan art depiction of Fox McCloud as a woman (though sometimes as a man) in the costume of Zero Suit Samus from the Metroid series.

Origin

The earliest known post to show Zero Suit Fox art was posted by Tumblr user acstlu^[1] on May 2nd, 2014 (shown below).

Spread

acstlu was instrumental in the spread of Zero Suit Fox images, going on to create many more examples in the following four years (examples shown below). A thread about the growing popularity of the images was posted to Escapist^[3] on August 8th, 2014.

acstlu also inspired many others to create their own interpretations of the character, and regularly posts submissions and reblogs other artworks inspired by his creation of the character (examples by sssonic2 and O-A-X shown below). These have grown very popular on Tumblr.^[2]
