Office Space is a 1999 comedy film written and directed by Mike Judge. The film stars Ron Livingston, Jennifer Aniston, Ajay Naidu, David Herman and Steven Root.

History

In 1991, Mike Judge animated and produced a series of shorts called Milton, which aired on Saturday Night Live and MTV's Liquid Television. The shorts featured the character Milton, who would later be portrayed by Stephen Root in the film (examples below).



On February 19th, 1999, 20th Century Fox released the film Office Space in theaters in the United States (trailer below).[6]



Reception

The film received positive reviews. On the movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, [2] the film received an 80% fresh rating (based on 100 reviews). In the "critics consensus," the site writes: "Mike Judge lampoons the office grind with its inspired mix of sharp dialogue and witty one-liners." On the review aggregator Metacritic,[7] the film received a score of 68.

Media References

On October 5th, 2008, Family Guy aired its 2nd episode of Season 7 titled "I Dream of Jesus" that parodies a scene from Office Space.[3]
