I went on a Tsutomu Nihei binge last year. Biomega started really cool, but the plot became incomprehensible in the latter half. Of the three big works of his I read, I'd say it was the weakest. Blame is awe-inspiring in its scale while still having the plot be followable (if a little dense and esoteric at times), while Knights of Sidonia is his most straightforward, human, and emotional series.
