Old Star Trek was about showing Social Issues through the lens of Science Fiction and letting the viewers make their own opinions based on what the plot showed them.

New Star Trek is about telling the viewer what to think and portraying them as the root of all Earth's problems for disagreeing with them.

These are not the same.
