She wasn't stupid, Tomo was the stupid one (and too confidant to realize it, like an idiot). Ayumu is a nefelibata or "cloud walker," she day dreamed and just lived in her head. Its why I connected with her, cause I was the same in school before I was an adult (I even earned a nickname too). In fact she knew she was "spacey." She tried to reinvent herself when moved from Osaka, but Yukari and Tomo (mirrors of each other) blew "Osaka's" chance.
