This is an apparition that was cut from the 1981 horror movie Ghost Story starring some Hollywood legends in their final movie, based on the novel by Peter Straub, though the film is very different from the source material. This ghostly woman was just one of several ghastly visages created by D--- Smith, the make-up master who did the make-up for The Exorcist, and while this was featured in promotional material, this phantasm was cut from the film and all of the deleted scenes, including a more comprehensive ending, appear to be lost. From what I can gather, this ghostly woman would have appeared in a scene where Fred Astaire's character has a terrible nightmare. The scene was cut possibly for run time concerns or due to the MPAA's infamous cracking down on horror movies around this time. A full eighteen years later this spook found new life in a nightmare scene in the 1999 remake of House on Haunted Hill, which Smith consulted on.
