As much as I'm excited to see the series come back, especially with Arnold, I don't think it was a good idea to mess up the original story with such a reboot that looks nowhere near as good.

I believe he gets there at the same time, but the timeline he SHOULD have arrived in is different due to someone arriving even earlier. T5 Arnie (who has been in the past a long time) blows away the T1 Arnie just as he arrives.

The liquid metal terminator from T2 probably gets sent to New-T1 because New-T1 requires more firepower since old Arnie is already there.

All rather simple really.
