About

1 Lunatic 1 Ice Pick is a shock video featuring Canadian Luka Magnotta killing Chinese student Lin Jun and mutilating his body. The video was uploaded in May 2012 following several other videos of Magnotta killing cats by drowning them, vacuum sealing them and feeding one to a python. The murderer Luka Magnotta featured in the film whose name parodies 2 Girls 1 Cup was arrested in June after mailing Jun's body parts to Canadian politicians and schools.

Origin

On May 25th, 2012, Luka Rocco Magnotta, born Eric Clinton Kirk Newman, uploaded the 11-minute video to the shock site Bestgore. The video,[1] which has New Order's “True Faith” playing in the background, features Magnotta repeatedly stabbing the victim and dismembering him with a steak knife. Magnotta also performs necrophilia on the body and cut off a part of the body and stuck it on a knife. There was no evidence that cannibalism was actually performed on the body.

Spread

After the video was uploaded to YouTube in May 2012, it was quickly taken down but the video still circulated various image boards and forums such as 4chan. In the following years various YouTubers posted reaction videos in which they watch "1 lunatic 1 Ice Pick." On June 4, 2012, Magnotta was arrested by Berlin Police at an Internet café while reading news stories about himself.[2] On December 23rd, 2014, CBC news uploaded "Hunting Luka Magnotta – the fifth estate" which describes the killers backstory (shown below). The video gained over 2.5 million views in five years. On December 18th, 2019, Netflix released their docuseries Don't F**k With Cats which chronologically follows the crimes committed by Luka Magnotta through the eyes of amateur internet sleuths John Green and Deanna Thompson.
