The part that had me the most agitated was when the girls in the hallway left him there. They kinda stole the villain spotlight away from Kira.

This is just sad. We know that Harvest can make 500 copies of itself, but all that was left of Shigechi was one little Harvest.

I think that when he died, Shigechi poured his consciousness into that one Harvest, so he could give Josuke his dying clue.
