I never actually knew it was possible to save him.

The Mainliners always got him shortly after their introduction.

Dallas is the worst NPC ever, okay? That isn't even an exaggeration. In a game where optional escort missions are prevalent (and I always take them, because 99.999% of the time, it's worth it for the extra fire power), he is the one black spot. While others are runnin'-and-gunnin' with the best of them, Dallas just kind of looks at his pistol in awe during shoot-outs. The most cowardly one, Luther, recognizes danger and runs from it. Dallas stands in clouds of noxious gas and has staring contests with marksmen.

Hell, Sergei is an NPC who is high off his ass and never gets off the couch. HE is worth more than Dallas.

It's not even the game AI, either. Everyone else is a killing machine or just stands out of the way. It's just Dallas. Dallas is dumb as a sack of rocks. And guess what? You have to deal with him for three chapters. Three.

I finally saved his sorry ass (I am never saving him on Hard ever again), but... I...

Eurgh. Gotdammit, Dallas.

Since then, the field of Artificial Intelligence matured to a point where sentience because possible. Dr. Septimus, the machine's creator, updated it with the latest AI technology, bestowing upon it true consciousness. He additionally set up facilities to produce other types, but Grigor's bodyguard was his greatest single achievement._

_The aging leader of Novaya Russia eventually came to regard it as his successor, naming "him" Grigor II. After spending many months preparing him, Grigor was ready to announce his heir to his people._
