His spokeswoman called it a slip of the tongue, I don't know why this was ever even in doubt. I don't know why his supporters should really care, either; people against Donald Trump have thought of him as a small-minded (and small-fingered) buffoon who says stupid things all the time since before he even ran for president, way back when he was one of the leaders of the Obama birther movement. On the other hand, it's well established that Trump can say the stupidest s--- imaginable and his voterbase will stand by him anyways, so why should this time be any different?
