Door Stack Sorority Chants are are songs performed by sororities during recruitment typically with the sorority loudly clapping and chanting in a doorway of their sorority house to make a memorable impression on potential recruits.[1] In 2016, videos of door chants became viral due to their unsettling nature.
Origin
On December 3rd, 2015, Victoria Valentine uploaded the video titled "RECRUITMENT 2016" to Vimeo comparing sororities to cults (shown below). The video gained 1.4 million views in three years and features a series of clips of sororities performing the door stack sorority chants.

On August 17th, 2016, according to The Daily Mail UK[2], "the University of Texas at Austin shared the clip featuring members of its Alpha Delta Pi sorority using its University Co-op Twitter account" (shown below). The post, that has since been deleted, was captioned "It's the most wonderful time of the year! #sororityrush #utaustin."
On August 18th, several Twitter users retweeted the video like @poeticgf[2]who captioned the clip, 'They really did just open the gates of hell.' That same day, @itsbizkit[2] called it the 'scariest shit I've ever seen on Twitter' (both posts have since been deleted). Twitter user @itsonlyzach[4] tweeted, "That sorority gates of hell video took me to some very dark places in a YouTube black hole today. Fight the real enemy" (shown below, left). On August 18th, YouTuber okeditor uploaded an edit of the video adding fire and manipulating the sound (shown below, right). The video gained over 3.2 million views in three years.
On June 2nd 2019, the video say a resurgence after Twitter user @notsogosling posted the clip saying, "it's 2019 and there's still no video more terrifying than this" (shown below). The tweet garnered over 209,300 likes and 48,700 retweets in three days.

On June 4th, filmmaker Jordan Peele[3] tweeted, "Between this and that terrifying sorority video, I’ve been getting a lot of great inspiration recently" (shown below). His tweet garnered over 293,800 likes and 45,900 retweets in a day.
