1. So I've noticed a lot of people asking here and various other places what to do next. Some feel unsure of what steps to take exactly in regards to the whole gamergate thing or if what they've been doing is even effective in the first place. Some are worried it's going to implode like OwS did while others feel like simply walking away entirely is the best strategy. Add to this the bombardment of nonstop biased articles, a smug attitude of those on the other side, and nonstop censorship on major sites for discussion and it can all feel overwhelming 3. I get it. Everything about the last four weeks is confusing and that confusion can make what has been accomplished seem insignificant. You've got many voices all adding their own ideas, discussing their own fears, and wanting their own outcomes combining together to make one hell of a garbled chorus. So people feel at a loss at times. It's hard to hear the harmony amongst the noise 4 5. But that's part of the bargain you see. When you have a group with no defined leadership these are the issues that arise. It's just a part of the way things are. However it does have its perks. Those leaders who would give you direction, who would help to point the way come at a cost. Maybe they become arrogant, maybe they f--- up and the press of that failure kills everything in one fell woop, maybe they sell you out, or maybe they simply use you for their personal benefit. There is a certain security without them 6 7. Myself, I put out a few videos. I found the subject interesting and I found the attitudes and relationships of those in the gaming press and indie scene to be unacceptable. Aside from that I use social media (A thing I f------ hate with a passion) to try and spread around the actions of others. Maybe that's not enough, maybe it is; who knows 8 9 However one other thing I do is pay attention, I lurk various sites, read peoples opinions and pick up on the ideas they have that seem to be worthwhile. And there are many. But for whatever reason they seem to get lost amidst the noise and people overlook them So I've jotted these down over the last week and would like to put them out there for the people that are interested. You know another perk of a group made up of so many people from every walk of life is that many of them have various talents that are useful in a situation like this Being able to couple together those good ideas with the individuals possessing such unique talents can yield amazing results 10 11. So I figure what I'1l do is host a stream tomorrow and talk about what I've seen and what I think might be effective in helping to gain more ground. My voice will be s---, I'm sick (have been for days), but I do believe these ideas that have been floating around out there have merit. If you're interested in hearing them the stream will be tomorrow 9/17/2014 at 6pm central standard time 12 13. It seems like we've gotten nonstop push-back. Sites shutting down conversation, hit pieces in the press, shilling left and right. Why do you suppose that is? If a movement were a joke they'd be used as a punchline. What we've seen these past four weeks isn't humor, it's fear. These people are afraid of us and they should be. They know the longer this goes on the more information about their behaviors and attitudes come to light. You are, we all are, engaged in a massive and prolonged tug of war If you let go of that rope now you'1l never get your hands on it again.

And with that transformation, we had less and less to talk about until I just had to unfriend and unfollow you because that's all that ever came up in my New Feed from you or your f------ bobble-head friends. But now, I'm seeing your name pop up as an example of everything that is wrong with video game journalism -an industry that, in my mind, has always been about as relevant as eggplant or Martha Stewart on the list of things to give a s--- about. Out of curiosity, I revisited your Facebook profile to see what sorts of things you're talking about lately and, lo and behold, I see the Zoe Quinn circle jerk complete with Zoe Quinn herself weighing in on the matter. As if that doesn't just f------ epitomize the complete and irresponsible lack of objectivity in your chosen profession and is exactly just what the f--- everyone else is up in arms about in the first place Listen, I'm not a journalist. I'm not even a f------ gamer - and I'm using the proper meaning behind the term here, not some made up s--- you and your f------ kind are using to marginalize an entire demographic just because they happen to be calling you out on your s---. I'm just some guy with a Facebook page that people like because l post images and angrily talk about what vexes me in such a way that retards find funny. I'm a blogger at best. But I'm also someone who remembers how you used to be and why you got into the business in the first place Like some others in my past that I've just let fall to the wayside when they've gone off the deep end, I never really wanted to call anyone out for the sake that they could maintain some semblance of dignity. That's originally what was going to happen - what has effectively happened - with us. Because, as friends that effectively grew up to together, I owed you at least that much to not be a judgmental a------ about the decisions you make and the paths you go down (and this is coming from someone who is obsessive-compulsive about confronting people about their zealotry). But like one from your past would do after watching someone they considered kin publicly make a fool of themself, I can't just not say something about it. You mention in one of your latest posts that you want a different job That's exactly what I would recommend. Not because it'll get you away from the hordes of "angry male gamers" on your Twitter feed, or even because it'l remove you from the position of being a colossal hypocrite in my eyes (or anyone else who's been paying attention that isn't part of your insulated inner circle of SJWs and journalists and whoever else you keep around so they can agree with you). Over 100 female celebrities have had their iCloud accounts hacked and personal, mostly nude photographs of themselves published on 4chan and Reddit. Video game developer Zoe Quinn endured a vituperative online harassment campaign from men's rights advocates after her ex-boyfriend publicly accused her of infidelity including, and, as it turned out, wrongly, of having had an affair with a journalist to ensure favorable coverage of her interactive fiction game, Depression Quest. In addition to being unfairly accused of corruption and called all kinds of names, both on the Internet and through anonymous phone calls, Quinn found her address revealed on Reddit together with illegally obtained nude photographs of hersef Feminist media critic Anita Sarkeesian recently went into hiding, after her latest series of videos analyzing how women are used as background decoration in video games resulted in death threats against her and her parents and the publication of their Sarkeesian has become a popular target for misogynists. Attacks on the critic by men's rights advocates and Internet trolls included graphic threats of r--- as well as a crudely-made video game in which players scored points for punching Sarkeesian in the face. Following the latest Twitter onslaught, a slew of Angry Men on the Internet were predictably quick to suggest that she may have made up the death threats to garner sympathy and donations. Two men's rights activists are now asking you to part with your hard-earned cash to help fund a documentary on Sarkeesian and her perceived transgressions against the straight white males of the gamer community A ittle knowledge How does Wikipedia factor into this? The site is prime real estate for activists of all persuasions, and gamers and men's rights advocates, like many others, have been trying to influence its contents from the beginning. Sarkeesian's Wikipedia biography was infamously vandalized after she started her online funding campaign for Tropes vs. Women, and has since been fought over by men's rights advocates and feminists alike. To this day, the article and its discussion page focus prominently on the harassment she and her supporters continue to receive. It comes as no surprise that Zoe Quinn's Wikipedia biography has received an equal amount of negative attention. The issue: should a trumped-up non-scandal relating to someone's very private life be included in their article? Should the harassment of Quinn kicked off by the actions of a vengeful, narcissistic ex-boyfriend be perpetuated on a site that currently comes up as the first google hit for her name? Should Wikipedia be used to shame Quinn through quoting selective online sources? For a few weeks, it looked like Wikipedia video game aficionado Woodroar and administrators like Mr. Stradivarius and Black Kite had been successful in keeping Quinn's article free from mentions of the attempts at ruining her professional and personal reputation. Sadly, they did not prevail. Quinn's biography now features a section devoted to the incident, and attempts have been made at including a section titled Accusations of personal and professional misconduct. The talk page for Quinn's article tells a long but incomplete story of the sustained battle between men's rights activists and editors striving for neutrality. Some of the comments posted there were deemed so biased and intrusive that they were subsequently oversighted, which, in Wikipedia parlance, means that they are no longer viewable in the site's public archives. Most of the main advocates for depriving Quinn and other notable women of their right to privacy have a history of tendentious editing on Wikipedia and excel at gaming the site's myriad - and in some instances contradictory policies, which they can quote in their sleep. As you will see, they are an interesting bunch indeed.
