50 Shades of Christianity (or precisely, 29)

The other day, I took the PSAT and on it was a survey asking what my religion was. The table on the left are the actual options (taken from CollegeBoard.com) that I had to choose from. I hail from a Shinto-Buddhist culture, so I started looking for it. The problem is, the closest to "Shinto-Buddhist" they had was "Other" and Buddhism The other problem is, 29 of the options were different branches of Christianity. That's just under 3 out of 4 Now, I don't say I can't understand or tolerate this decision. The US is a de facto Christian nation with a de facto Christian culture. If a Japanese test were to ask this, we would probably see different branches of Buddhism and one option for Christianity (two for "Catholic" and "Protestant" if we're lucky) What I will say is this: If you're a Christian, and are sure that Christianity is the one true religion, and your god is the one true God, why are there so many different varieties of that "one" true religion? That, audience, is your thought-provoking question of the day (P.S. My final response to this question was 99.)
