Cthulhu Wars: Nuking Cthulhu Jr.
![Artist's Description:
A new series of illustrated plates from a recently released book, "Cthulhu Wars" by Osprey Publishing. I worked on these a couple years back but because release of the book was severely delayed for some reason unknown to me I am only able to show post them up here now. Not a fan of Lovecraft's work but I honestly had a lot of fun working on these and learned some things about the Cthulhu Mythos. I hope you guys like them.

Chaugnar Faugn, The Feeder
![Artist's Description
A redesign of the biggest(so far xP )failure as far as my Cthulhu mythos art go.:D This time it's a bit of Giger, a bit of Yag Kosha and finally a bit of my old design. The most remarkable would be the way it moves, instead of walking as a biped or tetrapod it uses its trunk as a crawling appendage. I picture it moving kind of like a chariot. With the trunk moving with snake motion in the front and the rest of the body dragging behind. What is uniqe for this take that this monster is sort of a mass of tumorous growth moulded in shape by exteral semi-transparent skin/armor. :)
"Words could not adequately convey the repulsiveness of the thing. It was endowed with a trunk and great, uneven ears, and two enormous tusks protruded from the corners of its mouth. But it was not an elephant. Indeed, its resemblace to an actual elephant was, at best, sporadic and superficial, despite certain unmistakable points of similarity. The ears were webbed and tentacled, the trunk terminated in a huge flaring disk at least a foot in diameter, and the tusks, which intertwined and interlocked at the base of the statue, were as translucent as rock crystal."

Shub-Niggurath, The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young
![Artist's Description:
Shub-Niggurath, black goat of the woods. Done for the Cthulhu Playing Cards project I've been working on with Albino Dragon. This was one of the hardest in the set, and also one of the best known, but with a lot of variation in visual design. So I knew I had a little freedom to get weird here, and I wanted to focus on the goat aspect first, as much as possible, and went with a centipede body style for a little spice, and added some spider-like multiple arms and central maw to give it an insect-like vibe. And finished it off with a giant mass of tentacles leaking a blood-smoke power, I figured it would be cool if she has a power that flows into the forest canopy around her, and creates an artificial night wherever she goes.

The Fungi of Yuggoth
![Artist's Description:
These fungal beings known better as the Mi-Go have been described in several mouldering manuscripts written by H. P. Lovecraft. They fly through the aether of space on incomprehensible wings, exploring the wonders of the universe and the strange life forms that inhabit it. Occasionally, they allow human beings to travel alongside them; though of course they are gracious enough to remove their companions' brains before doing so.

![Brief Mi-Go description. More info can be found on the Lovecraft wiki.
The Mi-go are an extraterrestrial species from the planet Yuggoth (implied to be the dwarf planet Pluto). They are described as winged creatures with large claws and heads covered in antennae.
The Mi-go are a scientifically and technologically advanced race, having a particularly sophisticated grasp of surgical techniques and neuroscience.
The Mi-go can transport humans from Earth to Yuggoth (and beyond) and back again by removing the subject's brain and placing it into a "brain cylinder", which can be attached to external devices to allow it to see, hear, and speak.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/001/880/529/d88.jpg)

Yog-Sothoth, The Lurker at the Threshold
![Artist's Description:
Yog-Sothoth knows the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the gate. Yog-Sothoth is the key and guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again. He knows where They have trod earth's fields, and where They still tread them, and why no one can behold Them as They tread.

Dreamlands of Unknown Kadath
![Artist's Description:
"He had thought it for some moments a range of black mountains, but now he saw it was something more...
...now these hills were hills no more, for some greater hand than man's had touched them. Silent they squated
atop the world like wolves or ghouls... their right hands were raised in menace against mankind...
...he saw arise from their shady caps great forms whose motions were no delusion... they were not any birds or
bats known elsewhere on earth or in dreamland... "
-from The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath by H.P. Lovecraft
