Left Daenerys - The last Targaryen. She has risen from scared and abused little sister of Viserys III, to palpable threat to the current rulers in Westeros and crippler of the slave trade in Essos. - A more authentic version of Rhaenyra and a more effective version of Aegon V thanks to her dragons. She is opposed to all forms of oppression. Let's hope she doesn't become what she hates in the books too. Daeron II - Arguably the best Targ King ever. Turned the Seven Kingdoms into the actual Seven Kingdoms. - May have pushed a bit too much the medieval equivalent of affirmative action with the Dornish. Not prejudiced at all against his great bastard half siblings and welcoming of them, which earned him the loyalty of two, although it wasn't enough to appease the other two. - Not strong in the traditionally masculine sense, but at his own way. S Aegon V As progressive as Baelor minus the religious fanatism. IMO the best person who sat in the Iron Throne, even if not necessarily the best King Tried to fight for the Smallfolk's rights and opposed the lords' elitism. Unfortunately he was too good of a dad and his children screwed up his plans. He got desperate and tried to bring dragons back and... well, Summerhall. Authoritarian Maegor - A cruel tyrant extremely fond of imposing his authority via beheading, torture, r---, or dragonflame. - He hunted down and destroyed the Faith Militant, greatly reducing the power of Westeros' dominant religion Rhaenyra First Queen of Westeros. Unlike some of her fans think though, she is far from a feminist or a good person. - Used torture and murder as a way to silence opposition towards her, justified or not. - She believed women and bastards should rule... In HER case and HER SONS cases. - She had it rough nonetheless on Westeros' patriarchal society Jaehaerys II A more unremarkable version of Daeron II. Physically weak, but still an involved and capable king. - Similar to Viserys II, he unknowingly doomed his daughter to a lifetime of abuse at the hands of her brother, until she died in childbirth. - The Blackfyres were extinguished during his reign. Right? Maekar By all means a decent person, military commander and king, but always overshadowed first by his other and then by said brother's accidental death at Maekar's own hands. Creator of the coolest crown after Aegon I's. Viserys I - Aenys but with a more favorable context and a bit more willigness to impose his authority, although not much. Named his daughter heir as she was his eldest child, which could be considered either progressive or stupidly tradition breaking, depending on who you ask. Aenys - An anxious people pleaser thrown into a super dangerous position, fans usually mock him but I feel sorry for the guy. Aerys II - Pretty much the same as Maegor, plus mental instability, minus dragons and extermination of religious dissidents Oh, he also attempted a genocide that would have made Hitler proud and name a concentration camp "King's Landing". Aegon II - First eldest male passed over as heir. As much of an a------ as his half sister, minus the faux progressivism. Aegon IV lite. Not as depraved, gluttunous and lecherous, and a bit more brave and tough, fighting his own battles and being super pain tolerant. Thanks to him, his mother and grandfather, Westeros wouldn't have a Queen again until... f----- Cersei. Way to go man. Viserys II - The unofficial king for three reigns and the responsible person for the Targ dynasty to remain strong-ish after the Dance of the Dragons. His actual official reign was sadly cut short by the murderous and disgusting a------ located in purple. - Speaking of which, he unknowingly doomed his daughter to a lifetime of abuse at the hands of said a------ in purple. Tbf to him, he was forced to marry at 13 to a 20 year old, becoming the youngest father in ASOLAF. Aegon III - A depressed and traumatized man who nonetheless did the best he could with the cards he was given. It certainly helped to have his bro doing good part of the heavylifting about ruling. The Targs' WMD died in his reign, too bad for the actual Targs, arguably better for everyone else (imagine Aegon IV and Aerys II WITH dragons). Aerys I An even worse case of head in the sand type of ruling than Aenys and Viserys I. - If it wasn't for Bloodraven, Westeros would have either descended to anarchy or to Blackfyre rule during his reign. He didn't have a single auth hair on his body, and by the time he tried to impose his authority it was too late. - He allowed the Ironborn to keep their religion. Libertarian - Despite his proximity in the compass to the a------ in purple, Aerys I is on the other side of the libido spectrum in comparison to Aegon IV. Daeron I - A badass and charismatic warrior and believer in the right of conquest. Too bad he couldn't keep said conquest, dying himself along with tens of thousands of men. - I have to say though, it's impressive he even managed to conquer Dorne in the first place without dragons, when not even Aegon I could, despite having three. Aegon I - OG Targ ruler. A rather enigmatic figure. - On one hand, he conquered and subjugated Westeros. On the other, he allowed them to keep their cultures intact for the most part, and managed to bring relative prosperity to the continent. - The guy with most Targ namesakes: One was a prick, another was an emo, another was a p------------, another was cool, and the last may not even be a Targ. Baelor - Targ Jesus. Religious zealotism made flesh. - Cared greatly about the poor and about avoiding bloodshed, so he is somewhat based. - On one hand, he protected Naerys from Aegon IV, on the othe he imprisoned his sisters on the Maidenvault for years. I'd say the guy had no evil in his heart but could be incredibly misguided. Jaehaerys I - Aegon I may have started the Targ dynasty, but this guy consolidated it. - Longest and arguably most prosperous reign ever. He balanced being forgiving with being authoritarian. The guy was kind of sexist and harsh on the "unallowed sex" department. He called his (admitedly assholish) daughter "a w----" and castrated AND sent to the Wall a Kingsguard for breaking his vows. Ouch. Aegon IV The absolute worst Targ ruler IMO. The biggest degenerate and sexual deviant on this post. - A gluttonous, cruel, useless, spiteful and lecherous r-----, torturer and murderer. He maay have f----- his own daughter, which is f----- up even by Targ standards Right
