How To Kill Faith in a Doom Movie

After this comic I watched Doom, you know what? I REALLY ENJOYED IT, it could have been hailed as a great game movie. It had clichés, but had unexpected twists, it had the monsters from the game in pretty decent recreations. I was actually surprised we'd lost half the cast and no one had shot any monsters yet. It could have been great, except for one...little...problem.

IT WASN'T DOOM. Sure you had the explanation about Angels and Demons and the secret of Mars, but Doom is about HELL, not what ancient people thought was HELL because of a virus, the game is about ACTUAL HELL, coming through portals and sh*t. Look at the final panel of this comic, that's exactly what they did!

The movie could have been 100% indentical to how it was, all they needed to do was shut up about "viruses" and have Cyberdemons come through a Hell portal that needed to be closed.

Actually watching again and seeing the religious guy was able to take himself out after turning so he wouldn't hurt anyone, I think that WAS the original plot, then some execs or something saw Marines fighting demons and went "no one, you can't do that, people will get offended" and they quickly added Virus rubbish explanations.
