Pseudo Ultra Instinct Master Roshi vs. Jiren xD (Read notes for the rant Part 4)

Then we see perhaps one of the worst moments of DB as Roshi proceeds to imitate UI and dodges Jiren's blows and forces him to block one of his own.

You can't defend this. Roshi didn't just dodge 1 blow. He dodged multiple ones in a row. Even if you say "Jiren was holding back", this guy's capable to move so fast, he travels from planet to planet by himself without the use of his spaceship, because its faster that way. How much "holding back" can you tolerate from the jump of aged King Piccolo (who might be able to destroy an entire city before regaining youth) to Jiren who surpassed Galaxy Busters. Jiren took blasts from SSB Goku without flinching in the same chapter nor could Goku dodge a blow. Is Roshi faster than SSB? Did Jiren hold back knowing Roshi is insanely slow? He has to have perfect self-control.

Even worse, Roshi retired back in DB. It was to make space for the new gen and acceptance that his time as being a challenge for his studends are up. All of them were trained under Kami, surpassed King Piccolo, some trained under King Kai and surpassed even Nappa. Goku especially learned and overcame obsticals Roshi can't even dream to challenge.
No amount of Character Moments and Peeptalk will change that. This is why I consider Roshi's existence as a competitor in this arc one of the worst ideas in both anime and manga considering the universe is at stake and there are far stronger fighters in Yamcha, Goten, Trunks, Yajirobi, Chaotzu, Mr Popo, any Namekian warrior and perhaps even Mecha Tao Pai Pai.

Which makes it relatively obvious that Roshi is nothing more than fanservice in this arc while adding Goten and Trunks could have opened the gates to actually make them characters.

I honestly believe that Toyotaro did this intentionally. Toyotaro was very consistent with the manga most at the time and from reading his AF manga I can tell he puts a lot of thoughts and efford into his work. I can only assume that he did this to troll people or he is upset over something. Maybe this is his way to payback for being called a tracer.
But maybe the fanfic writer in him did get the better of him and he just did that. It doesn't change that this ch is a complete disappointment.

This is my overall opinion on Ch 39 of DBS.
If Ch 38 was the best of the manga version of DBS, Ch 39 is certainly the worst.

Before I get to Roshi vs Jiren, we get a typical "power level is b-------" moment with the Pride Trooper vastly stronger getting owned by Roshi (literally Yamcha'd him like in Tenkaichi Budokai 21rd) and even impressing the SSJ3 level Android 17. I don't see much people calling that out since 17 apparently doesn't know Roshi and thinks he is powerful.
You can say the Pride Trooper was weaker than King Piccolo, which is fair since the gab in power between the Pride Troopers might be far apart.
Toyotaro also takes the time in reminding us that Super made Goku the equivalent of Ash Ketchum now, as he can't recall anything he learned from his masters. Something I mentioned why I consider Revival of F to be the 3rd worst thing from Dragon Ball, since Goku couldn't even the plot laser from Sobet coming, despite training with Mr Popo should prevent s--- like that happening AND we saw Goku actually using those things he learned in practice like Goku vs. Tien in Tenkaichi Budokai 23rd.

Lmao Toyotaro, but why? (Read notes for a rant part 2)

Initially I wanted to post an image with a full analysis of this ch, but f--- it. This'll focus only on the Kefla vs Gohan portion.

I want to start of with praising Ch 38 of the manga which pleasantly suprised me. I'm glad that another universe besides 7 eliminated another. That's 1 of the things that bothered me about the anime. Universe 7 finished off every single Universe. I'm not bothered much about multiple universes being eliminated in 1 ch, but I expected that Jiren to do it. Brolina's power just bothers me but Toyotaro did a good job showcasing her and Kefla's power.

The Broly reference Kefla made to the PrideTroopers followed by a shrug upon eliminating 1 in an instant showed so much personality missing from the anime.
It didn't feel like a pointless omage to cash in on nostalia of Broly like the anime did with Brolina.
I liked how Toyotaro excused the potaras in having Caulifla snatching them from the Kaioshin. It gave Champa the guts to actually take the gamble of letting Caulifla and Brolina fuse, since they were to lose anyways.
In the anime version it felt like pointless fan pandering. Champa even considered the female Saiyans as "aces" over Hit.

By far the best ch Toyotaro put out. But you could see the direction it'll go. When Kefla tried to finish off
Goku and the remaining Troopers; Gohan slapped it away. Considering Brolina's feats in challenging and overwhelming a SSB Goku, Golden Frieza etc, a fused version shouldn't struggle with Gohan.

This is 1 of the problems in Ch39. Gohan vs Kefla in princible made no sense.
What Toyotaro wants me to believe is:
Gohan's potencial allows him to rival Goku who trained under Whis by just training with Piccolo in 1 day.
It underminds the entire point of this "unreachable" level of SSG established in the very first arc (which honestly this isn't the first time it got contradicted).
Gohan impressed Kefla in sheer power so much, she was pretty much willing to throw the match.

And don't get me wrong, I love that Toyotaro'd give Gohan some actual love, but I can't buy this. I may like Cell more than Jiren, but based on what was established, I can't buy him training for 5 minutes in the gym next door to be enough to rival and defeat Jiren.
Say "PL are b-------" as many times you want, power scaling in Dragon Ball was fairly consistent and simple to a point anyone could understand it.
