We'd originally planned Lord of the Rings as a type of avant-garde performance art. Our plan was to act out the entire story in meticulous detail with no audience, reinforcing the idea that art is for the artist and not the consumer. However, someone invited Peter along and he was filming, as he is wont to do. Completely ruined the whole piece.

Funny story, in the original script, Frodo was meant to throw the One Ring into Mount Doom. However, when we were rehearsing, Elijah Wood decides he wanted to keep the prop. I tried to remind him of his role by saying "No!", and Andy Serkis attempted to wrestle the ring off of his finger and demonstrate the scene, but accidentally bit Elijah's finger. Tums out, Peter was filming the whole time ! SEAN ASTIN "SAM"

The grumpy looking guy munching on a carrot wasn't supposed to be in the film at all. Ian and Viggo were annoyed that Pete is always filming people and decided to get revenge by filming him while he was trying to enjoy a snack betweeen scenes. Everyone else loved it so much that they made him keep it in the final cut.
