The Kelpies
![So today I've decided to introduce you guys to the world of Celtic and British Mythology through the medium of Monster Girls. Because if I used actual depictions, they'd all end up in the Nightmare Fuel gallery.
The Kelpie, or Water Horse, is a shape-shifting water spirit from Scotland that changes forms from a stunning white horse, a sort of horse-fish hybrid, a large hairy man and a beautiful young maid.
This image depicts three of their four forms, and because they are Faeries they are all d----.
Each and everyone of them will try and drown you if they can. The human forms by dragging you into the water and holding you down with their superior strength.
Meanwhile, the skin of the horse forms becomes like glue at the whim of the Kelpie itself. So you approach this calm, friendly looking horse and it just stands there invitingly. But as soon as you pet it, or God help you, try to ride it, you get stuck fast and have cut the stuck part off before your dragged kicking and screaming into the water whereupon it will disembowel you and scatter your guts along the shore line.
The main way to identify whether you have encountered a Kelpie or not, is to pay attention to the hair. If the hair is damp, or has water reeds in it, stay back, as it could be a Kelpie. Kelpies in their horse form also have backward facing hooves, although if your THAT close, you are already in a lot of trouble.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/018/212/def.jpg)

GOBLIN MURDER HOBOS!!!
Ahem...so, continuing the running theme in British folklore that all Faeries are d----, we come across the Redcaps, who are a type of goblin that lives in and around the ruins of old castles along the English-Scottish border.
Redcaps get their name from the blood-soaked caps they wear on their heads. If the blood ever dries, the Redcap will die. This is the main thing that compels them to murder any travellers they come across.
Every Redcap wears iron-shod boots and carries with them a large pike. Although they appear unwieldy, Redcaps are said to be extraordinarily fast and almost impossible to outrun.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/018/201/07c.jpg)

Selina Fenech: Selkie by the Sea
![Just taking a slight detour from the adventures of British and Celtic Mythology to post another Selkie pic for two main reasons.
One, fantasy creatures drawn in a classical art style is my goddamn crack.
And two, because I'm generally surprised that with the large amount of Horny Posters we have that there was only one Selkie image on this sight until today.
90% of Selkie art is literally hot men and women stripping and somehow no ones picked up on this.
No, I'm not just saying this to create a large influx of classical art monster girl lewds; it's a genuine observation I have made.
(Snorts mix of ground up acrylic and oil paint.)
I can stop whenever I want.](/assets/image-covers/nsfw.png)

Selkie
![So today I've decided to introduce you guys to the world of Celtic and British Mythology through the medium of Monster Girls. Because if I used actual depictions, they'd all end up in the Nightmare Fuel gallery.
The Selkie or Seal Folk, are a type of mermaid native to the Northern Isles that come in both a male and female variety.
Unlike the normal fish-based mermaids, Selkies are able to transform between a large seal form or their human forms by either donning or shedding their seal skin. If the skin is stolen, then there is no way for the Selkie to transform back into a seal and this causes them great distress.
Because of this, they don't suffer from the "Mermaid Problem" and can have children with humans, although they tend to stick to their own people.
Due to this, Selkies are objectively the best version of mermaids, as they have a higher chance of being redheads and they turn into seals; which are basically sea doggos.
Don't argue with me on that last point. Seals have puppies, bark and have the heads of Labradors. Their basically the dog version of mermaids already.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/017/973/938.png)

The Lob is a similar household spirt to the Scottish Brownie or the Hob of the Northern Borders.
The only real difference is that a Lob takes the appearance of a large hairy man who breaks into your house to do your chores in return for a saucer of milk and a place by the fire to sleep, instead of being the size of a small child or smaller.
However, he is a faery and all faeries by nature are d----.
Just like with a Brownie or Hob, if you annoy one slightly , it will take it back out on you ten fold through either disruptive pranks or petty damage to the house itself.](/assets/image-covers/nsfw.png)

The Irish and Scottish have Banshees that foretell the death of an individual with their haunting wails or by washing the clothes of the soon to die.
Us English have hellhounds like the Barghest instead. And, unlike Banshees, the Black Dogs of England sometimes take a more direct role in killing the doomed individual.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/017/910/541.png)

Black Annis
![So today I've decided to introduce you guys to the world of Celtic and British Mythology through the medium of Monster Girls. Because if I used actual depictions, they'd all end up in the Nightmare Fuel gallery.
Black Annis (also known as Black Agnes or Black Anna) is a bogeyman figure in English folklore. She is imagined as a blue-faced hag or witch with iron claws and a taste for human flesh (especially children). She is said to haunt the countryside of Leicestershire, living in a cave in the Dane Hills with a great oak tree at the entrance.
She is said to venture out at night looking for unsuspecting children and lambs to eat, then tanning their skins by hanging them on a tree before wearing them around her waist. She would reach inside houses to snatch people. Legend has it that she used her iron claws to dig her cave out of the side of a sandstone cliff, making herself a home there which is known as Black Annis' Bower Close. The legend led to parents warning their children that Black Annis would get them if they did not behave. She was also known to hide in the branches of her oak tree waiting to leap upon unsuspecting prey.
Other traditions stated that when she ground her teeth people could hear her, giving them time to bolt their doors and keep away from the window. It is said that cottages in Leicestershire were purposely built with small windows so that Black Annis could only get a single arm inside. When she howled she could be heard five miles away, then the cottagers would fasten skins across the window and place protective herbs above it to keep themselves safe.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/017/895/9af.jpg)

The Shellycoat, like most of the Faery Folk, are viscous little s---- that delight in causing misery to humans.
At their most benign, they are tricksters who pretend to be a drowning person getting carried down or up stream to lure travellers on a wild goose chase.
At their worst, they still pretend to be drowning, but stay in one place; hoping to lure a passer-by into trying to save a drowning person who is not there and they often do this where the river's currents are strongest; either dragging down or carrying away any who attempt to swim through it.
Faeries are d----.](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/017/855/94e.jpg)

Nuckelavee
![So today I've decided to introduce you guys to the world of Celtic and British Mythology through the medium of Monster Girls. Because if I used actual depictions, they'd all end up in the Nightmare Fuel gallery.
We'll start off with the one most foreigners will be vaguely aware off, despite the fact that it's localised in the Orkney Isles, which are the reason why any map of the British Isles has about half a page dedicated to the North Sea in any Atlas.
The Nuckelavee was a spirit of pure evil that brought plague and storms wherever it went. Appearing as a skinned horse with the torso of a man melded into its back, it stalked forth from the sea on dry, autumn days to hunt for mortals to torment.
Sometimes, in its grotesquely elongated arms that reached to the floor, it carried a sword that it used to strike at passers-by whilst a cold, red fire burned in the singular eye socket of its horse head.
However, it is assumed to be mentally stunted, as it is terrified of fresh rain water and decided that the best place to make its home was about 10 miles (16km) off the coast of Scotland.](/assets/image-covers/nsfw.png)
