Paper Mario
Invalid Goombas
![Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog Super Paper Mario contains 33 distinct entities all named "Invalid Goomba". While they are easy to dismiss as duplicates, there is evidence to suggest that during development, there might have been a separate purpose and story behind each individual Invalid Goomba. The internal enemy list of Super Paper Mario contains 33 distinct unused entities all named "Invalid Goomba". In fact, there is about 1 Invalid Goomba for each 6 enemies that are actually used. This is very easy to dismiss as simple duplicate entries. However, there may be more to this than meets the eye at first. Elsewhere in the code is a list of unused enemy stats. While sadly no code that connects the two lists exists, the unused stat list contains a large amount of stat blocks assigned to enemies with hitboxes identical to Goomba hitboxes. 33 Invalid Goombas, each with different IDs: Unused stat blocks for Goomba- sized and shaped enemies: 1HP, 1 Atk, points 3:3:3:3:3 ? 1HP, 3 Atk, points 1 HP, 1 Atk, 100 points 1 HP, 2 Atk, 100 points 1 HP, 1 Atk, 500 points 1 HP, 3 Atk, 100 points 10 HP, 1 Atk, 700 points 5 HP, 1 Atk, 600 points 1 HP, 1 Atk, 200 points 3 HP, 2 Atk, 200 points 1 HP, 2 Atk, 50 points 3 HP, 3 Atk, 400 points 5 HP, 1 Atk, 200 points 5 HP, 1 Atk, 100 points 10 HP, 1 Atk, 100 points Many of these appear more than once each. It is possible that part or even all of the Invalid Goombas were at some point in development connected to one of the unused stat blocks. The purpose of this is unknown; it could have been unused Goomba types, enemies used for testing Goomba stats, or a combination of the two. ource: tasvideos.org/GameResources/Wii/SuperPaperMario# EnemiesData; tcrf.net/Notes:Super_Paper Mario](https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/masonry/002/900/061/298.png)

Paper Mario
The trees are British
![Supper Mario Broth @MarioBrothBlog In Paper Mario, the trees in Toad Town are called "britshtree" internally. It is possible that this stands for "British Tree", though what exactly would make that tree British is entirely unclear. britshtree Birch tree? (unlikely) British tree?! (inexplicable but more likely) Birches are a common genus of trees known most of all for their distinctive white bark with black spots. The tree in the game has regular brown bark. While birch species with brown bark exist, they usually have a very rough surface not reflected in this tree. It would be very odd to use a real world tree as a name for a cartoonish tree that lacks the property most associated with the real tree. While there is no explanation for what would make this tree particularly British, the word "britsh" is much more plausibly a typo of "British" than of "birch". The UK has a wide variety of tree species, and while none of them have rectangular crowns - a fictional property not shared by any real trees - the leaf shape and trunk may have been inspired by some type of tree the artist associated with the UK in particular.
