A Guide To Understanding New Pokemon Games or Poople Who Havenfa Played Since The Original Games "What's changed in Pokemon since the first generation of Red & Blue?" Not that much! At its core, it's essentially the same game-you have your Pokemon fight wild or trained Pokemon in turn-based battle while exploring an overworld. There are a few hundred more Pokemon though. And a few new types of Pokemon to help balance the game, including Steel, Dark, and Fairy. Also, Pokemon have these things called Abilities' (a special attribute) and Natures' (which affect their stats) now. Oh, and they sometimes have 'Hidden Abilities,' . which are like Abilities, except...hidden "Okay, so what -" Actually, hold on, there's a few other things: Pokemon have genders now, which (in part) determines how they'll breed. Oh yeah, right, Pokemon can breed now. In daycares which, ya know, is probably the last place anyone should be having sex. But whatever. mean, I guess it is also a little weird to think about Pokemon having genitalia hidden somewhere on their bodies. I do not wanna know what Mr. Mime's dong looks like. Also you can choose the gender of your trainer. It doesn't really make a difference, beyond some surface stuff, but it's there Right, got it. So-'" Have I really mentioned how many more Pokemon there are? Because there are a lot I mean, really, OVER 700. Remember the days when you could catch em all andit wasn't necessarily a mind-numbingly impossible task? To be fair though, a few of those are pre-evolutions for existing Pokemon that you don't really need to bother with. People dedicate hundreds of hours of their lives to catching these things and showing them off. "Ooo! A shiny Kakuna! Wow!" Seriously that's a thing. Also, there's a thing called the Pokerus, which is even rarer, and- ed the Pokerus "I'm leaving, this is stupid -" GET BACK HERE. IAM NOT DONE EXPLAINING POKEMON. Okay. So. A Pokemon's moves can be physical or special now regardless of their type, so a move's effectiveness must be judged on an individual basis. Speaking of moves, TMs are now re-usable! HMs are still a thing though, which is b-------. Seriously, we still live in a world where you have to carry around a s----- Pokemon because you taught it Cut and you don't wanna make one of your good Pokemon learn that garbage move. Now let's move on to stats. Special has (rightfully) been split into Special Attack and Special Defense Which brings us to EV- Please stop, I need to get home to -'" SIT DOWN OR ELSE YOU'LL BE MORE F----- THAN DITTO AT A DAYCARE.
